The impact of music on the brain, it's amazing!!Someone explain this to me!?

I just read about an experiment done with 10 mice.

5 mice listened to classical music for 10 days.

5 mice listened to rock music for 10 days.

After the 10 days, the two sets of mice had to do the exact same maze. The classical mice completed the maze in a minute and a half(!!), and the rock mice completed it in half an hour (!!)

Also, the study couldn't be continued because all the rock mice killed each other!!!!(None of the classical mice did)

Isn't that amazing?!

I'm going to start listening to classical music!!

So anyway the question is, what is it in classical music that has such an impact on the brain?

Most classical music is composed based around a base melody and then there are a number of variations on the main theme. These variations and the theme usually develop a pattern and the variations are similar to play. In Piagetian terms, you have assimilation and accomodation, a kind of cognitive practice so to speak. Intelligence is seeing patterns in apparently chaotic stimuli. Classical music is nothing but the development of and playing of patterns. Similar effects are produced visually by the patterns often seen on Persian rugs and Arab and Indian art.

Rock music could have the same effect if the melodies were played in classical ways. As it is played by rock bands, it is a driving beat that is important, not patterns and interplay of melody. However, many Beatles tunes lend themselves to orchestration, whereas I am not sure of heavy metal, although I did hear an orchestrated version of one piece.

I don't know but I heard that plants will grow better (stronger, healthier, more vibrant in color and faster) with classical music!
really dont agree with this one i like all sorts of music.maybe the fact that classical was a relaxing technique and rock was loud , and disturbing.i find them both very nice depending on my mood
