Help, I need some good music?

Okay, I lost all of my music, and now I'm redownloading most of it.

The type of stuff I'm into:

Disturbed, S.O.A.D., Godsmack, Tool, Metallica, Rage against the machine, Nine inch nails, Audioslave, Nirvana.. uhh I have pinkfloyd, and Kula shaker also.

Now there's nothing wrong with what I have right now, but I've listened to my friends music before and there's just some awesome stuff that he has. Just intense music that as soon as you listen to you just can't stop. I know there's just soo many artists out there with damn amazing music, but I just dont know any of them!

Please suggest some artists I should check out, mainly rock, metal and such, no hip-hop or rap, country or the bull**** new music that sucks..

Radiohead!

They are with out a doubt one of the greatest, most brilliant, and most original modern bands out there today. Thom Yorke (singer) has a beautiful voice, unlike anything you have ever heard. They make alternative rock, pop, indie, electronic, acoustic, and piano songs. Their music is just so good. They are just brilliant. They totally beat the crap out of all the other stuff out there today that people think is so great. They have songs on Rolling Stone's top 500 songs of all time list. They are also considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Radiohead is so good that they will be right up there with other revolutionary British bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.

A while back, I read about a website which uses technology to recommend music to users based on their indicated music preferences. I guess it is similar to Blockbuster where you rate some movies and then BB recommends some movies. Where is this site? Thanks

I personally prefer Last.fm, cos it works cleanly outside the US, and works a lot better in the long run. You download a bit of software and listens in on what you play on your computer, then spurts out recommendations every week, which you can stream as your own personal radio station through the Last.fm software (which is nice and lightweight). Plus, it offers full free songs from artists you WILL have heard of, and it also acts as a great way of gaining statistics on your listening habits, which I love.

I've been looking for a software that allows not only to play (stream) music, user can also edit the music, like name, or ID3 tags. My music collection it's pretty big, and multiple user access it, not just by playing the music, also adding files or editing the ID3 info of files, i'm not looking for software to download music

I am not sure of the name of the X Factor theme, however I can tell you that the theme was written by my cousin and his colleague. He was actually in the last eight of the contestants of the first Pop Idol competition won by Will Young.

At the moment he and another guy are backing singers for The Pet Shop Boys and they are on tour.

I gave my friend a clean CD-RW to put some music on. He did and I uploaded that music on my computer. However, I put the CD in the CD player in my car and it won't play, saying there's an error. What's going on? Should I rewrite the songs on a CD-R because those work fine in my car.

Most in car and home CD players will not play CD-RW. The CD RW uses magnetic technology while CD-Rs use lasers to etch recordings on to a CD. That is why you can only use CD-Rs once. Check your car CD and home CD players and look for "CD-RW". If they don't have that marked somewhere on the outside, chances are they will not play in your CD player. Create a CD-R copy and you should be fine.

Music Dilemma?

Here is my problem I like anything really but I dont like rap and other music wher the lyrics objectify women (sounds sillly but I dont like anything that sings about women as objects)

I just got my sansa connect, and i was ordering my subscription to Yahoo! music unlimited to go free trial and at the end when my mom was going to put what type of subscrpition we wanted afterward she changed it to a cheaper subscrpition. turns out that was not Yahoo! music unlimited to go at all, it was just Yahoo! music unlimited. so now im stuck paying 9 dollars a month for something i didnt want. unless i can get help here. because all the links to contact customer support are broken or send me to the main help page. please if you can help at all, do so.

you need to cancel your Yahoo Unlimited subscription. hopefully you are still in the "free trial period." Once the subscription is over (it takes a week or so), then you can register for the "to go" version.

There's good music in a lot of genres. And then there's some genres out that (such as hip hop and rap) which are trying to pass as music.

Song Suggestion For Music Video?

My siblings and I (age range from 6-17) are planning on making a music video for fun during the summer (we like to make movies but we find having music to go with them makes the job more easy than having to create "lines" to go with the plot). Last year we did School's Out For Summer. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for songs that we could use to create a music video that siblings could create (take into the age range when deciding). We have some ideas but are putting it out there for you to help us. If you also have any ideas of interpretations for the songs that would be useful (to get out minds thinking). A lot of songs out there seem to be about love, drugs and sex and things that are difficult to use to make a music video with younger kids as well as things that siblings would be comfortable acting out. heres a start.
I think I would use Bad Day by Daniel Powter. I would use it because I am sure you and all of your siblings have had a bad day where you were all fighting about something and I think it would be cool if you each video taped each other. Like one sibling could be taped one day the next one the other day etc... going by age order youngest first. My Music and My Pictures Folders?

I have a school computer so I have to keep everything really organized on it. I have "My Documents" and then I have two folders "School" and "Sarah's Documents". I have music that I use for projects and my personal music in each. However, everytime I go back to "My Documents" "My Music" and "My Pictures" always turns up back there and everytime I delete it it always comes back! How do I stop it from reappearing in my documents? Thanks!

My music and My pictures will always be there there is no way (to my knowledge) to delete those folders

however you can create a new folder named "music" and one named "Pictures" and leave the the "MY" folders empty that way when it is time to give back the computer you can copy your files to a CD or whatever delete the two (now empty) folders

Windows software automatically creates those folders. You're never going to really get rid of them. Though I'm sure someone out there can give you a hack for it, unless you are very computer savvy I wouldn't mess with Window's settings. It can have unintended consequences.

Have downloaded some music videos and only one has played successfully. One plays the music but blank screen and the others just dont play at all! Have tried downloading divx codecs for mac and also On2..there is a few others listed but i dont want to download any more if it aint gonna help!!

Have you tried VLC media player? If not, I would suggest you give it a go. It comes with all popular codecs already installed so you should be able to play your music files just fine providing the files are not wmv. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Hey, download a trial program from lime wire called blaze media pro. It will convert music and video formats such as mpeg into wmv etc! Be sure to scan all downloads for virus' b4 you open them.

If that don't work then try a web search for 'XP codec pack' it worked for me. GOOD LUCK!!!

Music players arnt working but other sound does?

When i try and play music in windows media player and other musci players it says "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file." and on other music players will just not play. I have played these songs before so i know they work.

Other sound works from the internet and stuff, and i have tried downloading other players like real player and winamp but they have the say problem. I hav also updated the drivers but still nothing.

just to be safe go into the device manager.......(for XP- right click on My Computer, select Properties, click the Hardware tab, select Device Manager)........ then go to your sound card and disable all of them, and then re-enable them......that should get your problem fixed.......... if it doesnt then the program is probably corrupted......uninstall Windows Media Player then go to Microsoft.com %26amp; download a newer version.......hope it works out for you.............take care............... l8r dude

Hi.

I was wondering if there was a way to download music somehow without having limewire..See I want to download some music so I can burn a CD but I can't have limewire on my computer though because it makes it run really slow right now. So..is there a way to download music without paying for it %26amp;%26amp; without limewire.?

When I say things like this, my friends roll their eyes, but it鈥檚 how I actually talk. I say things like, 鈥淟et鈥檚 talk about video compression!鈥?They buy another drink. But that鈥檚 what we鈥檙e doing in today鈥檚 Help-Key, and it鈥檚 something I actually get to do for a living (besides blogging, duh).

YouTube is getting huge. Somehow, despite the lack of a coherent business model, it鈥檚 become one of the most popular destinations on the Internet, and rightly so: the idea that anyone can become some sort of memestar by uploading a simple video is great. And because the site does its own Flash conversion, it鈥檚 a piece of cake. The thing is, though, with digital video garbage in means garbage out.

You may have noticed that some videos on YouTube simply look better than others. This is because they came from better sources. With a little tweaking and a little know-how, you can prepare your video for YouTube in a way that spares us all from oversized pixels.

The first step is knowing what format you鈥檙e starting with. Most digital cameras today shoot video, as do most phones, which is a great cheap way to start. Sadly, the videos created tend to be worse than that 3rd-gen VHS copy of Cheerleader Carwash 8 you found under your brother鈥檚 bed. If you can, pull your video from a digital camcorder. Most Mini-DV cameras include Firewire out, so if you鈥檝e got a fairly recent Mac you鈥檙e set. Or you can get a Firewire card for your Peecee pretty cheap.

But no matter where your video comes from, the onus is on you to make it awesome. There are plenty of editing tools on the Internet for any platform you wish, and the latest computers actually have tools bundled with the basic install for just such casual editing. And they鈥檙e easier to use than you think. You鈥檙e not Kubrick, so you don鈥檛 need Final Cut Pro or Premiere. I personally use the $30 pro version of Quicktime, because it鈥檚 fast and has drag-n-drop editing, which is nice.

If you can avoid it, don鈥檛 use the Windows Movie Maker. The program handles things with tricky Windows Media codecs and black magic and the blood of virgins. Also, if you鈥檙e using a cellphone video source, it鈥檒l vomit on you. Quicktime plays nice with about anything, and the pro version can be had on any PC or Mac.

Once you鈥檝e got your clip looking pro, you鈥檙e going to want to make it YouTube ready. YouTube can only take certain formats for input, so this is where it gets tricky. You鈥檒l want to make a .mov or .mp4, so make sure whatever editor you鈥檙e using can hack it. If not, you鈥檒l need to do a conversion, and that鈥檚 no rock n鈥?roll fun, and you lose information during the transition, so best just leave it alone.

Your newly formed video should be set to the YouTube-native size of 320脳240 (aka QVGA). I know, I know: here we are in the world of HiDef, and I鈥檓 telling you to shrink your vids. I鈥檓 just the messenger, ya know?

picture-97.jpgIt鈥檚 also worth noting that your camera might shoot at a different aspect ration than the 4:3 that is 320脳240. If so, you鈥檒l have to do a little letterboxing. It does king of suck, but it鈥檚 better than the stretch and pull method that would happen otherwise.

When YouTube鈥檚 servers encode your video, it鈥檚 going to lose some quality, it鈥檚 a fact of streaming media. That means you鈥檙e going to want to make it as bit-rich as you can. Use a bitrate as high as you can, YouTube can take it. That being said, anything above 1200kbps is probably overkill and will take the video longer to process on YouTube鈥檚 end. Somewhere between 700kbps and 1000kbps should do the trick nicely.

Now that we鈥檝e got size, codec, and quality set up, choose your audio. You鈥檒l want to use the MP3 audio codec (either CBR of VBR), which should be standard on your editor.

Output your file as a .mov or .mp4 and preview it. It should look pretty good (if small). If you鈥檙e satisfied, do your upload. After it鈥檚 on the servers, it can take up to an hour or more to display. This is because YouTube is formatting it and encoding it for their Flash streaming. It鈥檚 an automated process, but by following the guide above, it makes less work for the YouTube servers. This isn鈥檛 altruistic, however: you did some of their work for them, but since you were in control, you made it better than they could. This means that your video will look better than most, and will encode faster. Double bonus, pal.

Also note that there鈥檚 software out there that has automated YouTube features, such as VirtualDub. These programs are great time-savers if you鈥檙e and hardcore YouTuber, and they should be considered.

you would most likely need software to put the music on the phone. check with your cell phone company to see if they have any downloadable software.

you can't, they got rid of all programs that will let you load free music onto you phone.

First you need to save them to your PC and if you have a Sdk card reader simply insert card and open card and cut the copy then past to your music file. You can also use bluetooth.

My way, is to use a usb data cable with drivers. Software to access the phones software and memory card and add them to my ring tones and my music as mp3's. These sites will show you how to dot anyway you want .

Here is my problem I like anything really but I dont like rap and other music wher the lyrics objectify women (sounds sillly but I dont like anything that sings about women as objects)

Is there a song out there that has that Kind of beat like the Pete Pablo song I mentioned but has lyrics that are like, Train, Jamiroquai, Keane, the Killers, The Feeling, The Calling

Digable Planets - early 90's hip hop band that fused jazz into their music. I still love their 1st album 'Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time %26amp; Space)

Morcheeba - A blend of hip hop %26amp; rock....very soothing. I'd recommend the album 'Big Calm' to start.

Bjork - Lots of beats %26amp; samples. I'd recommend the album 'Homogenic'.

Do you think that our music should expand more...in ways like experiementing with newer more outrageous dance music sounds..but, say, not just with our new music..but, also with the old stuff.. that is really classic, in so many ways?

I personally think that it is time for some of our groups that can still show it off, from way back when...get back up..and shake up our times again...(I think that if they still have it..they need to keep it going...just like the Rolling stones..and a few others ....why not?!!! Ya know?!!)

Also what kind of interesting combo of music would you like to see and hear out now? and why?

Amd what new stuff would you like to see, change into something totally different...with a funkier or more wild sound and why?

iTunes does have a limited amount of Filipino music available. Unfortunately, they're not listed on a separate genre, but rather grouped with others like pop or rock.

Best thing to do is search by artist or song title.

How To Put LimeWire Music Onto A Folder Also an I-Pod?

How are you able to transfer music from Limewire onto a folder? I want music from Limewire so I may play it from my computer but I also want to put music into my I-pod...how am I able to do that? Explain steps please. From a new folder or whatever folder I should use for transferring music to transferring it to my computer and my i-pod. I-pod shuffle that is.

When you download something on Limewire, it downloads to a folder. Which one I don't know because its different in every computer, but you can check where the music is being downloaded in your Limewire application, in Options.

Then you need iTunes, and add those files that you found on that folder to the iTunes library. Theres an option on File --%26gt; Add files to library in iTunes. Hope this help.

I presume you have an mp3, or something, and not a midi file, because the following method wouldn't work for midi songs.

1) download Audacity:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

2) start Audacity, and load the music file in question

3) Choose Edit %26gt; Select %26gt; All

4) Choose Effect %26gt;Change Pitch...

5) Type a value in the Semitones field, such as 2 (2 half steps higher), or -3 (3 half-steps lower)

6) Click the Preview button to try out your change

7)When satisfied, click OK.

If you want to encode the song back to mp3, you need the lame encoder installed as well. More about that here:

i'm a teenager who loves music. i mean any kind of music. i'm a lyrical type of person so if you are saying something i can believe , its worth my ear time. i listen to everything from josh groban to common(rap), to faith hill(country) to stevie wonder to AcDc(rock) to the hives to jesse mccartney(kid pop). i love it all. i listen r%26amp;b when i'm in love, hard rock when i'm hyper,etc.but i have become so furious with some country music lately what made rap so popular and degrading.some,just some,of the songs lately have become more explicit, more references to sexual behaviors,and more scenes of skanky women shaking their asses.now i know country to rap is like apples to steak,i know everyone doesn't have such a wide range of musical taste.but isn't bad enough that a few bad apples in the rap industry make it hard for real true rappers? now the same is happening in the country industry, is anyone else mad about this or is there a double standard i don't know about? keep country true!!!

I too am a very lyrical person, who for the most part enjoy's all kinds of music also....(I don't enjoy most rap due to the fact that the majority of the rap song's I hear are just music and or lyric's ripped off or "sampled" as it were from someone who actually can write music and lyrics)...however I really do agree with you with regard's to country music. I thought that so called "new country" was going to be great with all the new artists that have been breaking into country music in the past few years. Maybe they feel that in order to be "current" and compete with other genre's of music they have to become more explicit lyrically. It's sad to me because traditional country music was always about feelings, sadness, loss, regret, love, etc..etc... now I'm afraid that people are just writing songs for the "shock" value and too be known, look at Big %26amp; Rich, %26amp; Gretchen Wilson for example...I mean she writes a song about driving her truck while she's "all jacked up" (drunk), what kind of example is that setting for people.

I miss the old country music where whether you found love or lost it at least the lyric's were subtle, they weren't in your face like today and the artist's didn't feel they needed to be naked to tell their story. Keep country true is right!

Ajent32, Nashville music was ruined long ago. I would suggest that you listen to bluegrass or Austin music if you want real country music that is still close to its roots.
The days of Waylon and Willie are over. I think all music is kinda crap nowadays though.

Try Austin music for some progressive country that doesn't suck.

I have to agree, I love classical Bach to Prodigy and all stuff in between and beyond. Grew up in the south and love country music, but it has taken a turn for the worse. What i hate the most is tuning in a country station and a pop station and they are playing the same song! As for the sex and skank in country, they are out to make money and sex and skank sell even in country, which is too bad!
I agree. I listen to Everything as well, and I love to sing, so country is one of my main genres. When people say that "country music is sad and depressing" I usually argue a good point and prove them wrong. However, some of these modern country songs and artist ARE straying from the true meaning of country. If I hear this 'honky tonk' song one more time I'm liable to break every radio in sight. It is songs like that that make people dislike country music. Country should be somebody with at least a little bit of talent Singing, not talking, about something with meaning. No talent, no truth, and no story behind the song? should be considered 'special interest' and not played on the radio more than once a week.
country music is just fine! rap music isnt even music-rap is crap- no comparison.
