Music on a dvd disc?

all i know about dvd discs is that they hold much more then a cd. my friend burned me a music dvd, and it isnt recognized by my computer or a regular cd player...how can i acess teh music? or, even better, uploa it to iTunes?

any help is appreciated!

Depends how they burned it and what you have. Here are possibilities:

- You do not have a DVD drive on your computer or the drive is not compatible with the type of disc your friend used (such as DVD+R or DVD+/-RW). If you don't have the drive, the only resolution is to borrow or buy a compatible drive to put on your computer to read it.

- Your friend did not "finalize" the DVD they burned and therefore your computer cannot read it. Someone with a DVD burner drive will need to finalize it before a plain old DVD-ROM drive will read it.

No matter what, a CD drive will not read that disc, it has to be a DVD drive with the ability to read that disc. Your friend most likely burned the files as MP3 or WMA files that either need to be read by a computer or a compatible player. A lot of the newer DVD home theater systems are MP3/WMA compatible so you might try it on one of those.

One other distinct possibility is the disc is bad and nothing you can do about it.

Whatever the case, the only way to play on a normal CD player is to be able to read the DVD, convert the files to audio CD format on a new CD-R disc.
